Every now and then I come across guitar related products that are extremely clever and this is one that I just had to share with you. A few weeks ago I saw a video advertisement for a new guitar tuner device called “Roadie”, and I was so intrigued with the concept that I had to reach out to the manufacturer. They were kind enough to send me one and I have to say, after spending a few days with it, I’m quite impressed.

The Roadie Tuner is a hardware / software solution for tuning your guitar. The hardware is a small, portable device that will physically tune the machine heads on your guitar, banjo, ukulele, any instrument that has tuning pegs. The hardware connects to your iPhone or Android mobile device or tablet via Bluetooth and then communicates with a free app that you download. The app allows you to choose from pre-set tunings like: Standard Tuning, Open G Tuning, DADGAD, etc. and it also allows you to create your own custom tunings.

Here’s a demonstration of me using the Roadie tuner and retuning my guitar to the classic Led Zeppelin song, “Rain Song”. “Rain Song” tuning was not in the presets so I added it as a custom tuning.

So if you’ve ever struggled with tuning, or even had a mental barrier that prevented you from retuning your guitar to an open tuning (for playing slide), you might consider a Roadie Tuner. It really does make retuning your instrument an easy task.

Click here if you’d like to purchase a Roadie Tuner for yourself. They also make great Christmas or birthday presents for guitar players.
