Today’s Pedal Line Friday submission is from Josh Scussell. If you have a pedal line (doesn’t have to be in a board) for your rig, please email me a photo, bio, description of pedals and routing to pedalline@nulleffectsbay.com. Every Friday I’ll showcase a pedal line submission. Make sure you include any links to your band or music page.

Pedal Line Friday - 1/8 - Josh Scussell

I’m a huge Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, and John Mayer fan. I’ve collected these pedals over the years to get as close as I can to their sounds within one pedalboard.

I run my amps clean, and I like to use either the Blues Driver or the Plexi-Drive as a base slightly driven amp tone. I then use the Tubescreamer for solo boosts. If needed I have the Katana for more volume.

I have to have my FuzzFace before the tuner because like most old Fuzz circuits, the fuzz will freak out if it sees a buffered input signal. So I put it before the buffered BOSS Tuner and it works great. I always combine the fuzz with any of the other drive pedals, usually the Plexi-Drive, to simulate the Fuzz going into a dirty amp.

My Strymon Lex (Leslie simulator), is very special to me. I run it in stereo and it’s remarkable. The people at Strymon, after discovering my battle with Lymphoma through my Instagram, personally contacted John Mayer and asked him to sign this Lex for me. They then contacted me asking for my address and they mailed it to me as a gift. It was the first time they had ever done anything like that. I’m still blown away. Truly world class people who make amazing world class products.
