Flex Reaction Earth 522 PedalboardI’ve been very excited to talk about the Flex Reaction Earth 522 Pedalboard. First off, Taradol at Flex Reaction sent over a Flex Reaction Compound 44 programmable looper a while back. I talked about it here. After  we gave that away, he asked if I wanted to check out the Flex Reaction Earth 522 Pedalboard. Sure.. I’m super down with that!

I’ve had and used a few pedalboards over the years. Some angled, some with slots and some with holes. I definitely prefer the slightly angled style and something I can tuck the cables underneath. The ability to tuck is great for creating a clean look, but I really like it for quickly swapping things out and getting cables out of the way in a hurry.

After receiving the Flex Reaction Earth 522 Pedalboard and removed it from the soft case, I was immediately impressed with the build. It is very light weight yet sturdy. Clearly aluminum chassis in black powder coat. The top is a perfect example of a flat surface with access slots. Almost a hybrid of the popular rail style with a flat board. I like the fact that you get excellent surface area for mounting pedals in different configurations.

The next feature I noticed were the openings for power. Access to power is SO important. There is a large opening on the front face (opposite of the musician) and 2 circles cut on both sides of the board. To me this is very important if you need the option of two power supplies (like I do). In the gig bag, there were pre-drilled holding brackets for Voodoo Lab Mondo, Voodoo Lab 4×4, Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus, Cioks Ciokolate, Cioks DC10, Cioks DC8, Walrus Audio Pheonix, Walrus Audio Aetos. Excellent!

The angle of incline, in my opinion is perfect – not too high and not too shallow. The overall height is slight larger (approximately an inch) than my Pedaltrain in comparison, but I felt the height was quite comfortable for my feet and access to pedals.

When I compare this to other pedalboards that I’ve owned, what I like the best is the surface area. I feel this give solid contact for a variety of pedals (including micro pedals) in different orientations and configurations. BUT, I loved how much cleaner it is for tucking cables out the way. Check out Taradol’s pedalboard fully loaded to see what I mean. Seriously, this is a super clean set up!

The Flex Reaction Earth 522 Pedalboard weighs in around 4 pounds and the dimensions are 22″ x 14.7″ x 3.5″. And like I mentioned, comes with a soft case (a non-soft case version is available). Pricing is right where it should be. With soft case, the Earth 522 is $169.00 and by itself is only $109.00. You can purchase directly from their site. Overall, I thought this pedalboard is great. I would personally rock this without hesitation.
